What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on solutions for the future, rather than digging up the problems of the past. It uses Psychotherapy and relaxing hypnosis to lower anxiety and initiate positive mental change.

If you are willing to make changes to the way you think, then this type of therapy can be extremely effective in relieving the symptoms of anxiety and stress as well as many other conditions often helped by hypnotherapy.

You have my promise that I will:

  • acknowledge where you are at the moment.

  • help you to identify where you would rather be.

  • do my utmost to help you make the changes you wish to make.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Hypnosis is a gentle, non-invasive yet effective way of enabling a therapist to re-programme negative and damaging patterns of behaviour. It cannot have a negative effect on your mind. The worst it can do is have no effect at all, but that is rare.

What Is Hypnosis?

The hypnotic state or ‘trance’ is very common, one we all experience every day of our lives. Whenever you daydream or become engrossed in a book or television programme and lose touch with time passing, then you’ve probably entered a self-induced hypnotic state.  So, trance is not sleep but a deeply relaxed state. You will be aware of your surroundings and in complete control. You might think of hypnosis as having somebody guide you through a daydream.

When we are in a state of hypnosis, we are extremely relaxed and yet in a state of focused attention. The subconscious mind is more open and responsive to suggestion. In Hypnotherapy, it enables us to bypass the conscious mind which often puts up barriers, and deliver positive suggestions to the subconscious mind. These are designed to challenge negative thinking and enable positive change.

Can a Hypnotherapist make me do things I do not wish to do?

The short answer is no, absolutely not. Contrary to popular myths created by film and television, a hypnotherapist cannot take control of your mind. No one can hypnotise you and get you to reveal secrets about yourself or do things that you do not want to do. You are in complete control at all times. If a suggestion is inappropriate for you, your mind will always reject it.
